Good Hygiene Practices in Child Care

We live in a world where there is an apparent increase in infectious diseases. Diseases are evolving and are certainly not decreasing in number. This is why keeping one’s hands and body clean and maintaining good hygiene, has become more important now than ever.

We at Shining Star Day Care believe that when children are assisted to develop habits of good hygiene, it not only creates a sense of security and safety and reduces the threat of disease, but also has other benefits too.

Importance of teaching good hygiene habits!

Children learn to stay clean and fresh independently, which is an important part of their early education. Learning personal hygiene skills boosts a child’s confidence. It gives them the tools they need to become independent and do things on their own.

Children cope up better with social interactions, and many other aspects of life as personal hygiene routine affects not only our health but all of them.

They generate the ability to follow a routine in the early years. Getting to learn, to become disciplined is a challenging job for the parents, as well as the kids, but there could be small hygiene habits that can help us achieve that goal.

Our practices, to cultivate these habits in them!

We have tried embedding basic hygiene learning experiences in our curriculum, in this way we empower children’s health and well-being.

They learn what they see: Good hygiene habits start as something that we do for them and then, they learn to do it for themselves.

We also try and include hygiene in the toileting habits as one aspect of self-care skills. Slowly they develop these skills, and eventually, they also practice the same!

Our other approach is to promote self-help skills during play and through the day’s routines. These rituals provide children to develop good hygiene practices for life.
